SUITE SERIES: DUALITY

This piece combines form and content to create a unified statement about the duality that resides within us all, which sometimes leads to hypocrisy. As part of my Suite series, this piece combines woodturning, metal spinning, miniature painting, and jewelry-making. The lathe-turned lid of the vessel, which also serves as a wearable pendant, is made from Stevenson’s novel, The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde. The baseplate is also lathe-turned from alternating black and white paper. It was essential to use the actual materials to further reinforce the concept of the piece.
